Delvers heed the call of season’s change!
Trace north the cursed arrows fletch
past Jewel, and the Kron to Welkwood Fringe.
Make due counter there of foul shrine eldritch
with bivouac bold! Friends, to your mark!
Shove aside the hearths meagre comforts
to sketch in sharp detail your life’s great work
across this frosted pane. Heroes deport
to bold lines and the strongest verse, thoughtful
in strategy, reserv’d and ready, yet quick
as the bloody drake to launch their fateful
sting! Prove yourselves the devils wrack!
To the gaming table, hie and fling
the dice to adventure; into spring!

Dearest Clair,
I hope your studies were as rewarding as mine this winter. To my great joy, Lord Cuthbert sent my adventurous companion, the most fabulous Grachus, to the monastery to teach the young monks there the proper use of the broad sword. I dare say, once he arrived, not single one of the vibrant youths made unwanted advances towards me. And yet, at Grachus’ insistence, they did advance and met the full furry of a broad and her sword!
I must admit I spent a bit of time in the infirmary recovering from my lessons. However, I learned a few things about curing lite wounds, which may prove a blessing.
I’ve also learned how to protect myself from evil. I now carry a vial of holy water with me at all times, there’s a place for it in my armor, at the leg. I brought another in my pack, good to have a backup. I left the last of my GP with the monks for their gracious provisions.
I shall travel with Grachus to reunite with my party and see what the spring shall bring.
Love in his name,
Dain

Dearest Mother,
Thank you so much for your assistance in arranging my further advancement at the monastery in here Divers. You will be pleased to know that I have survived, with all my limbs intact, if not still mending. I do hope I have brought honor upon our convent.
I shall reunite with my adventuring companions and pursue the quest our Lord has put before me.
Your Devoted Pupil,
Dain
Protector
P.S. I’m so excited!!!!

Dearest Clair,
I killed a big black swoopy thing! It was horrid.
I also met a man who I think was not evil, but was perhaps serving evil. I let him go. I will have to ask mother to clarify the difference for me.
A curious thing. People keep saying to me that I don’t belong, because I am of the Faith, a Cuthbertian. Do they not know, that I belong where Lord Cuthbert leads me? In truth, he is in me, is he not? So where I am, there is Lord Cuthbert and therefore I belong.
